Wilcox, SK - Jesse Elford ('07) is one of Canada's best in High School Rodeo, finishing in the top 8 of the Canadian High School Final Rodeo championships this past spring.
Elford has been competing at the Canadian ranks since 2004 when he first competed in the Canadian High School Final Rodeo championships in Medicine Hat, Alberta. In 2004, Elford was named the Saskatchewan Male Rookie of the Year and went on to compete in Gillette, Wyoming at the National High School Finals Rodeo.
In 2005, Elford was Saskatchewan's Steer Wrestling Year End Champion and Finals Champion, which allowed him to compete at the Canadian High School Final Rodeo and the National High School Finals Rodeo that same year.
Elford attended the "Young Pro Training Camp" in Graham, Texas in January, 2006. The Camp is made up of top young ropers from across the country. The goal of the Young Pro Training Camp is to instill Christian values, morals and work ethics into the students, not only for them to be successful in life, but for them to be a positive role model and influence to those with whom they come in contact with.(http://www.youngpro.us/)
Elford has trained with some of Rodeo's best including former and present National Final Rodeo Champions Allen Bach, Clay O'Brien Copper, Patrick Smith, Clay Tryan, Travis Tryan, David Key, Korey Koontz and Pope Myers.
