7 Hounds Selected in WHL Draft

Wilcox, SK - Athol Murray College of Notre Dame along with the Director of Hockey Development, Mr. Dale Derkatch, is pleased to announce that seven bantam hockey players were selected in the 2007 Western Hockey League Draft.

Jordan Messier, from Canmore, AB, went 40th overall to the Tri-City Americans. Messier finished his Bantam AAA season with 31 goals and 52 assists in 23 games.

Brooks Macek, from Winnipeg, MB, went 43rd overall to the Tri-City Americans. Macek finished with 63 points, 30 goals and 33 assists in 22 games.

Jordan Weal, from North Vancouver, BC, went 79th overall to the Regina Pats. Weal played in 25 games this season and finished with 42 goals and 48 assists for 90 points.

Allistar Chapman, from Calgary, AB, went 96th overall to the Swift Current Broncos. Chapman played in 23 games as a defenseman, and finished with 15 goals and 32 assists for 47 points.

Jaden Schwartz, from Wilcox, SK, went 173 overall to the Tri-City Americans. Schwartz who led the South Saskatchewan Bantam League in scoring finished the season with 129 points in 25 games.

Blake Leask, from Norman Wells, NWT, went 221 overall to the expansion team the Edmonton Oil Kings. Leask a solid defenseman for the Hounds this year finished with 24 points in 22 games.

Carson Grolla, from Prince George, BC, was selected 222 overall by his home town team the Prince George Cougars. Grolla another solid defenseman for the Hounds finished with 24 points in 23 games.

All players selected from the draft played on the Bantam AAA Hounds this year.
